HUBUNGAN ANTARA PENGGUNAAN JENIS PEMBALUT SAAT MENSTRUASI DENGAN KEJADIAN KEPUTIHAN DI SMK NEGERI 1 SUKOHARJO

Abstract

ABSTRACT

 

Background: One of the caused vaginal discharge was the use of pads. Some kinds of pads using hazardous chemicals for bleaching processes that produced dioxins substances that could trigger vaginal discharge. The aim of research was to determine the correlation between the use of types of pads during menstruation with vaginal discharge incident at SMK Negeri 1 Sukoharjo.

Method: This study used cross sectional approach. Total respondents were 182. The sampling technique using simple random sampling, the instrument using interview guideline. Statistical analysis techniques using lambda test with SPSS version 16.

Result: Respondents who use this type of non herbal pads as much as 141 (77.47%) respondents and herbal pads as much as 41 (22.53%). Respondents who experience vaginal discharge as many as 121 respondents (66.48%) and then  respondents who do not experience vaginal discharge as much as 61 events (33.52%) of respondents. The value of p = 0.000 (p <0.05) and the value of r = 0.541 which showed no association between the use of the type of pads during menstruation with vaginal discharge incident.

Conclusion: There was a correlation between the use of types of pads during menstruation with vaginal discharge incident with the strength of the correlation was moderate.
